After our time in Yellowstone, Sharon and I kept driving south to Grand Teton National Park. We stopped at Colter Bay to check out the visitor center, and then stopped at some overlooks for some great views of the Tetons. We also saw a female moose wading in a small pond. She was very pretty, and after seeing her we were determined to find a bull! The same day we hiked Signal Mountain Trail, and saw some daunting looking storm clouds once we reached the top. Luckily there was also a road to the top of Signal Mountain, and two kind gentleman gave us a ride back down just before it started to pour. After the storm we drove around the south end of the park in search of some more moose. Unfortunately we didn’t find any, but we got to see the famous old barns on Mormon Row.
On Friday morning we woke up early and drove to Jenny Lake. We didn’t see any moose near the lake, so we took the shuttle boat across and began a hike up Cascade Canyon Trail. Shortly into the hike we saw a female, and baby, and a bull moose close to the trail! After taking lots of photos we kept moving. We hiked all the way up to Lake Solitude and ate lunch. Since it was pretty cold at the top (about 9,000 ft), we left the lake pretty quickly. Soon after we left, it started pouring rain. We saw another large bull moose near the lake, but it was raining too much to stop and get any pictures. Luckily the rain stopped after about 30 minutes and the skies cleared up. We had a long way back to the Jenny Lake, and after 15.2 miles round trip, we were exhausted.
You and Sharon sure did have a busy week seeing so much beauty 😊. And did lots of walking! 🚶♂️🚶♀️
