Pacific Coast Party

Picked up my siblings and soon to be brother in law in on July 20th in San Francisco! It was awesome to have them all come visit me on the West Coast. We stayed at this really cool campground on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Once we got settled in, we went to a nearby brewery for a quick celebratory drink, and then went into the city to see some sights. We took a boat ride out to the Golden Gate bridge and around Alcatraz island and it was freeeezing. It was so breezy and a little misty, so we were all pretty chilly by the end of it. However, it was very cool to see Alcatraz up close! The experience caused Adam to purchase a windbreaker afterward as we walked around some shops. We also saw a bunch of street performers and some sea lions on Pier 39.

On the 21st we started our drive up the California coast after first stopping at the Golden Gate Bridge. We tried driving on Highway 1 from San Francisco, but the road was extremely windy, hilly, and narrow, so we decided it was best to drive back inland and take Highway 101 north instead. That added some travel time, but we went back to the coast to a spot called Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. After doing a little exploring, we kept driving a bit further north to West Point RV Beach Campground which was right on the beach. We witnessed an incredible sunset, and Ryan and Adam took a dip in the chilly Pacific osh, because it was an opportunity not to be missed. They said it wasn’t too cold except for their feet oddly enough. The next morning, we packed up and kept driving north to Redwood National and State Parks!
